Target Audience

We decided to look into the fans of Gabrielle Aplin who is also a younger singer-songwriter and musician. She has a very young fan base and they are all of the teenage age.
We want to create a media product and icon that can be relatable to and also who is down to earth and has a young fan base like that of Gabrielle Aplin.
As well as looking into her video for 'Power Of Love' and researching into different shots and using this as inspiration for our coursework piece we used her for being able to market Lydia in the correct way. We fouind her genre, style and general image to be very similar to our artist's. She is able to portray an innocent persona and also have meaningful songwriting that inspires. Through this very different style of songwriting we looked at the inital marketing strategy to allow the young fan base to stay interested.
Aplin plays many smaller gigs for her fans and allows them to stay interested as she is always doing something new. This is where our idea for our digi pack message came from. It allowed us to give the fans a personal message and directly address the target audience at whom we were trying to aim Lydia's music at.
We also looked into the work of popular indie band Arctic Monkeys. As a 4 part band they are hard for one person to relate to but still with the use of clever song writing and the right target audience they are a perfect example of doing it right.
We want to aim for the same target audience of those of Arctic Monkeys as it is again a younger, teenage,both gender group. This allows the music written to be aimed at both audiences and also be very different within an album.
Lydia's music, although emotion packed and synthetically personalised, is very gender neutral as she is a young, attractive female that sings about being a strong indiviual women. This definitely is showing that she can appeal to both genders.
Stereotypical Indie Genre
The stereotypical indie genre's fan base is that of the teenage age range and gender neutral. This is very much what we want to aim for when creating this product and promoting Lydia's music. Although she is an original artist and musician she comes under this category as does Aplin.


Again, Arctic Monkey fan bases are always being given new reasons to love their band. They are always bringing them something new and this is what we wanted to take from both of these artists on this page to put into our digi pack message.
We want to create the feeling that Lydia will always be busy and also to appeal to the target audience we have taken photos that fit with what we wanted the artist to look like so we can portray her beauty through her image as well as her music.
Overall looking into our target audience research we have come to the conclusion that the teenage, indie supporting fans would be our target audience for our artist.
This is my target audience, these are the kinds of people who I asked my surveys to and who I would want to be buying my artists products.

Here I wanted to find out more about my target audience so I knew more background information about them. This means that I can sell to them correctly. I found out that my target audience is pretty similar, I ask a boy and a girl so I knew what bot genders prefer and heres what I found.




Next I asked 10 boys and 10 girls which of these options they pefer and the outcome is exactly what I wanted because the answer are similar to what I want to do.
