Location Scouting
Before filming I went to the Manchester Victorian Baths which was the chosen location so that I could find out what the room where like properly so that I could create a story board and know what to do in each room. There were 9 main rooms/halls that I want to use, there way different aspects in each that makes me want to use them because each room is so different there is a lot more variety which will make my music video a lot more interesting because it makes people keep entertained whilst watching it. If I used the same room or very few rooms it would make the viewer feel like they’re watching the same thing all the way through and therefore they would end up daydreaming rather than watching it properly but this way I am making sure they stay focused and interested.
Room 1

In this first room there is great lighting from big windows at the side of the room which will make a really soft beautiful natural lighting effect when filming. The lighting has to be something I think about because I can’t have studio lighting which makes a natural light effect in each room therefore I need to think carefully which rooms will have the best lighting. I also like how it has a derelict look to the room but is still in good condition which shows how beautiful it was when it was a used room and it’s recently started to fall apart. This room gives the same emotion that is in the song that our music video is about so this works really well.
Room 2

This hallway is really narrow which creates a closed in feel to it, it’s like everything’s started to close in on her and she has no control over it. This room has a great impact on her emotional feeling in the song, because I don’t want a specific narrative in the music video I want to create more of an untold story I need to choose my rooms carefully. I need to select the ones which tell the story with the lyrics and create a narrative within its self.

Room 4

Here this long hallway has great lighting from windows on the roof which will create natural lighting falling down onto my artists. This would add a natural glow onto her face and highlight her naturally. Also the white portrays her vulnerability and innocence which is a look I want to create. Also the dark behind her shows her leaving the dark and entering the light.
Room 5

This was the top balcony surrounding an empty swimming pool, the doors around portray the feeling of many doors left unopened which again tells the story with the lyrics. It could also show how they have just be abandoned and uncared for. Again the lighting up here is great because of the big open windows that let natural light in.
Room 6

This is the front of the location building that I was using, the stairway is very elegant and beautiful and helps enhance my artists beautiful elegance look. However the lighting is poor in here so reflectors would have to be used.
This is the location that I am going to use.

Room 7

This hallyway is great because you can see the beautiful elegant look of the very perfect green tile work and how that matches the banister and door so this room has obviously been built to be its best and to be a real carefully chizzled room. However you can then see where over the years the room hasn't be looked after as well as it should have been which has resulted in the floor becoming torn apart which shows the lack of love.
Room 8
Finally this is the empty swimming pool that I would like to use, this big open empty space shows that no matter how big the place is you still can feel completly alone.

Room 9

I again put my artists in the frame so that I could see what it would look like if I used it in my music video. I liked this because it is a small space which is falling apart which shows feeling trapped and also damaged.
