CD Digipak Research
Here I am going to be researching ideas for our CD Digipak to find out what looks best for the kind of music video we have created because the CD digipak will need to match the music video and the genre of music that we are looking at. I firstly wanted to find more information about what a digipak actually was so that I could create the correct thing.

What Is A Digipak?
The digi-pack is an extremely versatile packaging. The DVD Digi-pack is a popular alternative to the DVD box. It is widely used for feature film DVD releases which are special editions because it increases the value and creates a premium product.

A digipak has the size and look of a CD jewel case but it is made of paper stock with a plastic tray glued to hold the CD. With a typical clear tray, a digipak has 4-panels for putting the artwork on. One advantage of digipak over jewel case is that it has better shock absorption than jewel case. When a jewel case is dropped it breaks. But a digipak will still be in one piece even it is dropped. A picture is worth more than a thousand words.
This is what I am going to do next for my A2 Media Coursework, create a digipak. I have already made the music video with my music artists own song and music now I need to make the photograph images for the CD album. This is another form of promotion for the artist, if the CD cover looks the part then it will attract attention from people who are browsing around shops and this will intrest them to take a look at the CD and hopefully buuy the CD or still even if they dont they could go back and listen to the artists music out of intrest.
Codes and Conventions
There are lots of similar things on album covers no matter what the genre of music. There has to be a basic few rules to follow to get all the correct information on the cover and still being able to make it intresting and apealing.

First of all there is a photograp or several of the artist or and imagine of something to do with the artist.

Then there is nearly always the artists name.

A song/ablum title.

Then there is usually information on the back to do with the song names.

Internet information for social networks also there could be a website adress for the artist.
By adding these few details onto the digipak there is usually all the information needed for the veiwer to know everything needed. The digipak shouldn't be overcrowed otherwise they aren't drawn to anything, they need to be able to scan over the writing and know everything needed, if there is lots of writing then it becomes overbaring and the veiwer won't bother to read the digipak.
