Song Writing & Recording

We booked a session in the studio and began to record the song with Lydia. She had a pianist play for her so we could focus on her vocals for the song. We took 2 hours to make sure it was perfect amd what we wanted ready for our shooting of the music video.

We wanted the song to be orignal so allowed Lydia to make all of the musical adjustments herself as it was her piece of music.

These are our photos from the couple of hours

recording and demonstrate us both using the

equipment.

The initial ideas with the recording was to video

the session whilst it was in progress but we later decided that the lighting was not creating the mood we were aiming for in such a soft and

struggling video.

Therefore we decided to have most of the video

filmed in the baths as this was a much more

appropraite location to achieve the feel we were

looking for and that we interpreted from the song.

We used a programme called Cubase to record the music. This is after a lot of planning as getting Lydia into the recording studio was a challenge in it's own right.

Click below for our recorded piece.

The initial ideas were to record Lydia's song after the writing process had occurred and for the song to be called 'Delusionary Imprisonment.'We decided that the meaning behind this title was too dark for the piece that we wanted to create. We then came up with the idea of hold me as when writing the song alongside Lydia we discovered the meaning through lyric and emotion from Lydia behind the song.
