Here I have found music videos which I think fit under the pop genre.

One Direction- What Makes You Beautiful

Here the band are on a beach location which is a beautiful background scene which is a tranquil, beautiful and peaceful setting to add to the love song. They are having a fun time just messing about having a laugh together. There is also a girl introduced into the video at the end which we assume is who the song is about. There are bright, simple colours which are colours usually associated with pop music videos. There is a lot of Direct Address, the artist connects with the audience with eye-contact. This could be to make the audience feel like this song is about them and this is why the band are trying to connect with the audience with eye-contact.

Ke$ha- TiK ToK

This song is about waking up after a crazy night out and how she carries on partying. She wakes up in another person’s house and is then trying to find her way to another party. At the end of the video she gets to a party and lots of drinking and dancing is shown. In the party scene there are lots of fast cuts to keep the video moving in time with the music. Also it is shown to be darker to show that the party is happening at night which is when most party’s happen. There are bright colours chosen in mise-en-scene to show that it is a happy colourful music video and this shows that the pop genre music videos are similar because most use bright colours throughout. There are also a few monocrome shots in this video to add variation. A male gaze can be shown in this video by the choice of dressing the artists in short, shorts and a small top this allows males to be more interested by her.
