This is my research for Pop CD digipak I chose to research Pop, Indie and Female artists CD digipak to get an idea of what the differences are so that the digipak we make is correct to our genre.There can be differences on digipaks depending on that genre because the digipak needs to match the music style and sometime relate to the music video. Even though they can look very different they can be very similar from following the codes and conventions such as the artists name. The codes and convetions are vital to the digipak to get across the correct information to the audience.

Justin Bieber Album Cover
Pop artists CD's, Music Videos, image ect are usually always over perfected because they have large record companies such as here for Justin Bieber it's 'The Island Def Jam Music Group' which put a lot of money into there 'Pop Star' to create an image that makes people idolise them because of the perfect image they create. Here on this CD cover the main focus is the artist to make sure the first thing a fan sees is him and would be drawn straight to the CD. However he does not have direct eye contant to contect with the viewer he is looking away but he looks relaxed and trying not to make an effort but still creates a perfect look which makes him look flawless. He has perfect skin and all his features are made to look perfect and stand out which makes people more attrated to him because he looks like he has natural good looks. Then at the top of the CD is his name in capitals which are quite small which could be because most people already know who he is just by the photograph of his face because he has such a big public career. Then in capitals again is the album name 'Believe' which is in white to make it stand out because the other colours on the cover allow this. White connotates the idea of innocents, hope and purity which adds effect on the title. There is use of warm browns, yellows and whites even on the artist himself to create a warm, glowing effect and to tie in him and the background all together. This is a simple but effective cover it will draw attention from his female fans especially because they will be attracted to the perfect image.

Here again the perfect image has been created, the artist looks flawless but still naturally perfect. However this cover is different from the Justin Bieber one because of its use of dark colours which have a massive impact on the effect created. The outsides are all harshly blackened which draws attention to her but can also distract attention from her. There is then a light grey glow on her making her really stand out because she is the brightest part of the album cover. She then has one hand gently place on her chin/cheek which can help to frame the face and create a totally different look. She has smokey, smoldering eyes which have direct contact with the camera to make it look like she is directly looking at you. She then is wearing something unusual which makes her stand out from the crowd because she's dared to be slightly different but this will attract attention from the audience. Her name on the cover is then in capital letters in pink to make it stand out from the dark background, the writing is slightly on some of her face but a big enough gap has been left for the writing not to hide her face. The writing for her name has a fade at the bottom which stops the writing from being too overpowering and bold. However the album name title is in bold pink letters to make it be overpowering and stand out becacuse it is in a lot smaller writing in the bottom left hand side.
