The Lyrics

"Like water I drowned you You never stood a chance
Like rage I control you Frozen in this last dance"
We focused on interpreting this particular verse into our video as it was the perfect example of parallelism within her feelings. Throughout the lyrics she is trapped and vulnerable yet strong and fighting.
In this verse she is both powerful and weak. The following aspects were chosen to portray these emotions:
-
The camera angles all showed loneliness so she is vulnerable and alone.
-
The natural aspect of the video shows she is simple in beauty however powerful and sophisticated to be able to sing a song like this one.
-
The location was water based as the place we filmed was at the Victorian Baths and this was an old yet beautiful place to film.
-
The frozen aspect was created by the colouring in both the filming and editing process. We used natural lighting as it created a natural yet cold effect to the skin tone of Lydia.
-
"Like rage" - We used vulnerability and weakness to portray rage and anger in the video as it was like she was emotionally trapped and couldn't escape. We showed this through the use of camera shots as she looked upset and emotionally destroyed.
The two sides to Lydia were shown through the use of costume as the red indicated passion, fire and love whereas the white indicated innocence and a powerless struggle.
"My heart is yours to take"
-
We created a defenseless feel to the music video by making Lydia sing the song in such a large location alone. Although the place was beautiful it was slightly deserted so it symbolised losing everything and having to restart with a blank canvas.
"We're fire and ice"
-
This lyric was inspiring towards our video as it exhibited the need for the opposites between the two different sides of Lydia.
Our lyrics are inspired by Gabrielle Aplin, we wanted to create a sad love song which gives the same emmotion that her video gives. If we achieve our lyrics creating the same effect that her lyrics do then the rest of our music video will work better because we can the concentrate on picking our location to have a lot of feeling to it, like it having its own personality which will enhance the feeling behind these lyrics.
This is the kind of emmotion that I hope our lyric will have.
Gabrielle Aplin- Salvation
Salvation
You are the avalanche
One world away
My make believing
While I’m wide awake
Just a trick of light
To bring me back around again
Those wild eyes
A psychedelic silhouette
I never meant to fall for you but
I was buried underneath and all that I could see
Was white
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
You are the snowstorm
I’m purified
The darkest fairytale
In the dead of night
Let the band play out
As I’m making my way home again
Glorious we transcend
Into a psychedelic silhouette
I never meant to fall for you but
I Was buried underneath and all that I could see was white
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
My salvation, my my
